Prevention for Active LivesSM (PAL) Program
In the past, people with hemophilia were often forced to live restricted lives. Lack of factor replacement treatment, combined with progressive joint damage, made an active, normal existence virtually impossible.
Today, more sophisticated health care, recombinant technology, and the work of a dedicated hemophilia community make it possible for more and more people with hemophilia to live active, healthy lives.
The PAL Program was started by Wyeth to raise awareness about a particular kind of preventioninfusions added to regular factor regimens before activities with the potential to cause bleeds.4 By preventing bleeds, the potential for joint damage may be avoided or minimized. A prevention regimen, including preventive infusions, can help people play, move, and compete in appropriate activities.23
Print out the Prevention Questionnaire, complete it, bring it to your next visit with a health care professional, and find out if prevention is right for you.
