Wyeth Pharmaceuticals to Remain Sole Sponsor of the World Federation of Hemophilia Twinning Program for the Fifth Consecutive Year

Collegeville, Pa., (May 24,2005) — In keeping with its continued support of the hemophilia community, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth (NYSE:WYE), announced today it has renewed its agreement to be the exclusive sponsor of the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) Twinning Program for 2005.

"Wyeth is proud of our long-term association with the WFH Twinning program," said Robert J. Dufour, Assistant Vice President & Global Business Manager — Hemophilia at Wyeth. "This program is a remarkable example of how the actions of a few people working together can have a positive impact on hemophilia care around the world."

"We are very grateful to Wyeth for its continued commitment to Twinning," said Mark Skinner, president of WFH. "As we move into the fifth year of our Twinning partnership with Wyeth, the WFH remains committed to helping elevate the standard of hemophilia care in developing countries. Wyeth's generous support continues to advance that goal."

Wyeth is a major supporter of the WFH, and has been the exclusive sponsor of its Twinning program for medical centers and hemophilia patient organizations since 2001. Through this program, treatment centers and hemophilia patient organizations in developed countries are paired with corresponding centers and organizations in developing countries to help share knowledge and best practices. As of September 2004, there are 28 active hemophilia treatment center twins and 14 active patient organization twins.

Hemophilia is a rare, inherited blood clotting disorder for which there currently is no cure. People with hemophilia are deficient in one of the key proteins — either factor VIII (hemophilia A) or factor IX (hemophilia B) — that are vital in the clotting cascade to prevent bleeding. Both forms of hemophilia are characterized by spontaneous hemorrhages or prolonged bleeding, typically into joints and soft tissue.
